    Siamese Fighting Fish

He's not exactly swimming round the tank like he owns the place, but he seems happy enough. He get's stuck in at feeding time, looking a lot less timid than he did. I haven't seen any of the other fish attacking him yet, so hopefully he'll adorn our tank for a long time yet. He's a real...

    Siamese Fighting Fish

He's settled in now. We got some big plants to disrupt the current from the filter and turned the filter more to the side. He seems a lot happier now. Thanks for your advice. :D

    Siamese Fighting Fish

Okay, I'll try a critter keeper. There is a current in our tank from the filter and he is avoiding it (he reminds me of a dog with long ears sticking his head out of the car window, when his long fins are being blown around). Hopefully, this will encourage him to go to the top more often too...

    Siamese Fighting Fish

We've had it less than a week. It's in a friendly tank, i.e. mollies, tetras, glass catfish, clown loache, sucking loache, harlequin rasboras a golden gourami. The tank is 800mm x 300mm x 300mm and has some live plants. The other fish are really happy i.e. they've been living there for...

    Siamese Fighting Fish

The man in the shop sold me some water fleas(?) in a bag. They're live, so I'm sure no fish will be able to resist! I'll try bloodworms too. He didn't have Betta Pellets.

    Siamese Fighting Fish

I've got tubifex and bloodworms sorted, so this other stuff might be beef heart. I'm hoping to go to the shop at dinnertime (where I buy the food from) so I can ask there.

    Siamese Fighting Fish

I've not heard of Betta Pellets, but I'll ask my local acquarium shopkeeper. I get a variety pack of four frozen meats, one's bloodworms and I think one is tubifex, but the stupid packaging doesn't say what's in it. I'll try bloodworm, because I tried some fluffy looking red meat which he...

    Siamese Fighting Fish

It looks like my new Siamese Fighting Fish isn't eating. He hides away most of the day and ignores food. I expected him to go for the flake food we put in, but he rarely goes up to the top of the tank. I tried some frozen meat, I think he had some, but it was hard to see him behind the...

    Going on Holiday

Thanks, we've got a feeder now and testing has been okay so far.

    Going on Holiday

We've used food blocks when we've been away for a week or a weekend. They always say on the packet that one block will be enough, we put in two blocks, then when we return they've all gone! We must have greedy fish. Thanks for the ebay idea, we'll do that. Andy T :kana:

    Going on Holiday

We're going on a two week holiday this summer, for the first time since we got the tank. What do you recommend with regard to making sure they are okay and well fed? I've heard of automatic feeders that dispense food every day, but I've never seen them. AndyT :dunno:

    My Clown Loach

I'm only a relative beginner so take what I say with a pinch of salt, however, our clown loach displayed similar behaviour when it's mate died. We bought another one for him to play with and he's been fine since. He also used to float on his side looking depressed. Andy T :)

    poorly fish :(

I don't know how many gallons the tank is but it's 80cm x 30cm x 30cm. I'll try to see how it goes to the toilet. Andy

    poorly fish :(

Hi I recently bought two Rams, one died, so I bought another one. This new one is looking good and healthy, however the survivor of the two originals is also now looking poorly. She (I think it's a she) is thinner and paler than when I first bought her. She's swimming around okay but looks...
