Hey i just tested my ammonia...it came up a really clear shade of greeen which is lighter than .25, .5 or 1.0ppm. The 0ppm color is yellow. it seem's like it is lighter than the .25ppm reading but it doesn't have the yellowish tinge to it, so it looks like a very clear version of the 1ppm...

ahhhh k. so it has already produced the right bacteria but just in a very small amount? i was thinking perhaps it had cycled and it was going through another mini cycle as more ammonia is produced as the flake breaks down. Which could possibly be creating an ammonia spike because their isnt...

I live in Australia so i can't get ammonia, instead i used fish food. I crumbled the fish food up before i added it hopeing it would speed up the process of producing ammonia. I have low PH tap water - about 6.5 so i have had to do a few water changes as my water tends to drop to PH 6 and below...

Todays stats are: Ammonia = somewhere between 1 an 2 ppm, my guess is around 1.25. Nitrite = .25 Nitrate = not tested Ph = 7.2-7.6 My PH seems to be changing heaps, i suppose this is normal for the cycling process is it coming along well??

lol then i might just keep it to one pinch/ease back a bit on the pinch sizes Hopefully i wont get too much algea but im a bit worried...there are a few pieces on the bottom of the tank that are getting a white 'fur' on them.
