Zucini/cucumber Exp Date?

How long can you keep a slice of zucini or cucumber in ur tank b4 it grows fungus or something and needs to be removed?

depends on temp etc and it will disintergrate before it will go mouldy most of the time but i can put peice in for a day or so
course none of my fish like to eat it, but its a good way of removimg my hundreds of snails

I have found it doesn't stay in long enough to worry about it going bad....the fish love it!

There was a thread on this subject recently and I believe that the consensus was 24-36 hours. Cucumber and zuchinni will often look fine in the tank until you touch it, it then disintegrates into a real mess. If you think it's gone too long remove it with a net - not by hand.

made that mistake last time, well my mum did when i wasnt in, cloudy water for days even with water change no problems with Nitrates etc

I keep it simple (for me). After 24 hours I remove whatever hasn't been eaten.

It usually starts to disintegrate after a day or so and then I remove it.
