Finally got around to visiting the second Maidenhead Aquatics store, close to me.
This one's at a Dobbies Garden Centre and specialises in the smaller fish.
Lots of quality fish and a fair selection of plants, as well as the usual display of tanks, equipment, foods and other standard stuff.

The guy serving knew what he was talking about and I was pleased to see the Bettas in larger glass boxes than is usually the case.

This is their Facebook page.
I hear a lot about Maidenhead Aquatics on multiple fish keeping forums that I frequent. I would love to see a pictorial tour of the place :good:

(and I am a HUGE Iron Maiden fan, so the name appeals to me ;) )

Many of the branches do have video tours. For example, this is the one nearest to me
though when I was there this morning the shrimp tank on the checkout counter had no shrimps, just several dead zebra nerites; the display tanks were no longer there and the plant tanks were almost empty.

Is it a chain store?

Yes it is. There are branches all over England and Wales, though I think they have a different name in Scotland? Most of them are in garden centres. The next nearest to me has a marine section as well as tropical and cold water. That's the one which was destroyed when the garden centre burned to the ground a few years ago, though both the garden centre and MA have rebuilt since then.

Edit - this shows the map with their branches located

GHASP! Shameeee (jkjk)

he's a fish tuber. He's really good and actually knows what he's doing. He does aquaecapes and unlike the other aquascaping ytubers he actually has cool fish. He's british too. Search him up he's one of the few actually good fish youtubers
Ahhh many thanks @Tacocat I thought everyone in UK already knew him like already ? But yeah thanks again for your pristine descriptions.

I promised to get some video the next time I visited Maidenhead Aquatics at the Dalston/Carlisle Dobbies.
This is a shop where the staff are more than capable of passing the time of day talking fish and the Bossman was happy to give me permission to film.
Unfortunately, I did rush, somewhat, in an attempt to avoid the families who thought a visit to the shop was a cheap day out for the kids.
The first vid shows their glorious Cardinal Tetra tank.

Hahahah I do agree on the part "cheap day out for the kids" well they will just hog the aquarium display make noise and the list does not stop there. That is why I make my trip to fish shop very early in the morning when they are just opening that way to avoid all those traffics.

Anyone know what type of fish is this ?
