Hi there is a guy selling Juvi Rotkeils on the net..

He is goign to sell me 10 for £50 including delivery. all @ 1.5"

and the Parents of the Juvis...

I have a choice of this or getting one FEMALE from Wildwoods @ 12cm for £42 + £12.95 postage

What would you choose?

The only thing that worrys me is the guy does not use Paypal, he wants the money paid directly into his bank account before he will send, i spoke to him on the phone, he seemed knowledgeable and polite....hmmmm

Now if i had 10 Rottys, i could make a good profit later on as they are near impossible to get hold of around here...

If i bought one of these wild Peruvian 12cm fish from Wildwoods i would not make any profit, not get a pair and be spending more.

There is one more site that is sellign a 9" male (including tail) for £42 but he wants £30 postage, which is over the top tropicalsovernight.com) and to me it does not look like a Rotkeil, more like a Appendiculatus.

Trimar also have one left, 4" for £65 (wild caught Peruvian female) + £12.95 postage, but they are really unhelpful and send they are not sending out right now because of the weather, i asked when they would and he got mouthy so i hung up.

Everywhere else i have rang, claim they have rotkeils, ask for crazy prices, tell me they are unsexable...and wont listen to otherwise and tell me they are Efaciatus....which are obviously not Rotkeils...

....This whole 'trying to get a Rotkeil' thing is driving me crazy...

Opinions or suggestions?

If the top one is the advert on AQ from Leeds, I inquired about them as well and he seemed sincere. If you could get anywhere near Sheffield I saw some stunners yesterday, if I had the tank for them there is just no way they would not have come home

whats the guys ebay feedback like has he sold any other fish before if so you could contact some of his previous buyers through ebay and ask them what there experience dealing with him was like it sounds like a good deal

The guy isn't from Ebay, he is on a hobbyist on the net, and hes not in Leeds either, hes in Middlesex.

Its a big Gamble isn't it..

I'm from Taunton Somerset, so would be a trek to go anywhere lol...

Not sure if they have any instock but you could try Coxwell aquatics I know they post and can get a lot of fish quite easily lots of rare stuff on their last list. I nearly got some in post from them and I believe its Minxyfishies regular LFS and you can see how nice her sevs are

The last 2 dont look that great IMO I would not spend that much on those fish that show poor color.

I would go with the fry. The parents look great and if you get 10 you have a better chance at getting some that look like the parents and they are nice fish.

But those prices are really high. The fry are the only good deal I see and good looking fish. Here in the USA you can find a good looking wild rot showin lots of color for $35 = 22 pounds. I don't know how rare these fish are on the other side of pound thoe.

Humm only thing is do you trust the guy go with your gut on that one. Paypal is kind of a rip off so I could understand why he might not want to use it. I have a friend that works for paypal even he thinks it's stupid. But that beside the point.

If I were you I would wait for a better deal and or better fish. The female looks pretty good but the male is not doing it for me. Watch eBay for some good ones or do you guys have aquabid or somthing like that?

I would be wary of sending someone money via bank trf, at least with paypal you have a way to get your money back if they are DOA. But its your choice.

Coxwells have none at the moment, in fact its been nearly a year since they had any severums at all, they have problems selling them. The female from wildwoods looks ok, little stressed, but they are very good at posting and Ive not heard a bad word about their service, or their fish.

Yeh it was Monty i dealt with, dunno if its just me but i just find 90% of places are just not bothered and don't know enough about what they are selling.

Its frustrating as a customer because you always have a lot of questions because you could end up spending up to £70 on a fish that is not what you wanted...and then you are stuck with it...and for someone like me who has 4 children and a partner to support...its a big risk and a long time for me to save up that kind of money. (espech in Somerset where wages are terrible because living is cheaper!)

I suppose a Hobbyist is always going to be more bothered than someone who does it for a job.

I'm going to risk this guy from Aquariestclassified, and pray i'm not going to get ripped off because i doubt the bank or the police would be interested because its a civil matter....if i do, i'll never order anything off anybody again.

He said they will be here within 2 days so i will let you know how they turn up, and how they turn out.

He did say he had a 4" one i could have, but it was killing and eating the baby ones....sounds a bit nasty so he can keep that one lol

If thye turn out good, i will recommend him etc.

Will have to sell my Sajica and Convict pair and my Juvi Green Terror to make room, then make my decisions on what Severums to keep because i will have 15 at varying sizes!!! lol

Thanks Wills, i went with the little guys.

All ordered up now, he said i should get them next week, hes put 12 1.5" juvis in for me.

hopefully i'll get a couple of pairs out of it to sell to make my money back to, because the parents are beautiful wild caught Peruvians...so this makes them F1's?

God knows how im going to squeeze in 12 Severums to what i already have tho lol

Time to rehome a few....anyone interested in a Sajica and a Stunning Green Terror?

I'll post some photos up when they arrive, if there is any sign of a stitch up, i'll name and shame.
