Hey guys, was wondering if  1 Green Terror would work with 2 Threadfin Acara's in a 3 by 1 1/3 by 2 foot tank?

I am stuck between chosing which i want and thought "could i have the best of both?"

ugh that's a hard one to think about, a female gt and 1 threadfin could possibly probably work but male terrors you really just don't keep with smaller fish. im not even really sure about a female working but you could try, and just remove the gt or the treadfin if they get aggressive.
oh and def not two threadfins because from what a figured your tanks around 55 g and for the most part one gt is all that fits in a 50, but a female gt and a female threadfin could fit in a 55

Thanks for the reply,

Do you know of any other pretty fish that would go well with two threadfins?

Melanotaenia praecox (dwarf rainbows) would look good with a threadfin :)

Having kept green terrors before, putting a green terror in a tank that small is an offence to fishkeeping. Please don't do it. The tank is much to small for Acarichthys heckelii as well.

If you want more a more convincing argument: my two green terrors were "free" with the tank which was bigger than yours and they were stunted.

Blue acaras are similar to green terrors in appearance but stay smaller and are less aggressive. Try those instead.

How big was your tank out of curiosity?

Approximately 100×45×60 cm, suffice to say that I found them a bigger home as soon as possible… last I heard, they were rather enjoying their 6 ft home!
