Unfortuantly, my beautiful bristlenose catfish passed away.

So my question is..

Would getting a mystery snail do just as good of a job in keeping the tank clean of algae.

For a 2ft tank, would 1 snail be enough, or should I get 2?

Could they breed?

I really dont want to risk it with another BN, thats why I want snails.

I have 3 albino corys that keep the gravel clean, its just the glass and ornaments I am worried about.

Thanks

Why don't you try otos? Snails need a alkaline tap water, and there can't be any copper, either. I doubt one snail would be as good as a BN, maybe about... 5? I know they won't put out NEARLY as much waste as a BN.

Yeah you could get otos, careful which you buy though as they can be sensitive when first put into an aquarium, they need lots of algae to get going with. If you want snails to clean algae then i believe nerite snails are your best bet and they cant bredd in freshwater so you wont end up with loads of them, i myself am planning on getting one or two for a small tank ive got with some glass algae in it. You can get them from here Aqua Essentials or Snail Shop
