while feeding the oscars yesterday i noticed a large piece of silver like foil fell out of the tub as i was shaking the pelets in the tank. statler got it before i did and ate it.
this morning he wouldnt eat breakfast and to be honest he looks pale and miserable. normally they spit out anything they shouldnt eat but he was in such a frenzy (he loves his pellets) it was gone as soon as it touched the water.

im not sure what i should/can do......??? :(

I don't think there is anything you can do but wait and hope all turns out OK. Good luck.

Cheers, Karl

:( id wouldnt worry if it was a small piece but it was quite big, im skitting myself its stuck inside him somewhere, hes swimming around fine just looks pale/washed out and more miserable than usual. and the fact he didnt eat is whats causing me most concern.

could it perhaps be stuck in his mouth, would it be worth (daring) to take him out and have a quick looksy?? (im gonna lose my fingers i just know it)

I suppose you could have a look, if you see anything use tweezers, fingers don't grow back.

Cheers, Karl

lmao
ok to the topic,,,,i have had a similar situation before, have a little lookski round the tank everywhere first, i founr the foil under a rock, was panicing for ages
have a look in his mouth if it will make you feel better, make sure you have a net big enough and have another pair of hands at the ready,i hooked my oscar out the other week, soon as he was air born he litterally jumped out bounced off the tv, all around the floor
get a nice towel, lay it out and hold him firmly, get a tourch to shine down the mouth,,,,other than this your going to have to wait and see

well im wet. and he's still in the tank. maybe i should wait for more hands. hes sulking now i tried to catch him. gonna have to wait and see. i definatly saw him eat it and he didnt spit it out in the ten mins i carried on watching. its not in the filter and not on the ground :(

well... if he is anything like my dingo/austrailian shepard........... He ate a tackle box full of worms on hooks when we went out fishing (needless to say we didn't catch any fish). Vet said.... "Well... I dunno.... If he lives then I guess he'll be fine".

Sorry. Doesn't apply. but the dog lived till almost 16y/o. :p

Really though. I hope it doesn't turn out to be major. Best wishes

:( sorry been in work all weekend so had no time to be on here. he is doing fine, looney as ever and eating brilliantly again. we stripped down the tank and didnt find the foil so i think hes ate it, its gave him a bit of an upset but its all gone 'through' fine? either that or its stuck in him somewhere but causing no problems yet????

fingers crossed all stays well and ive learnt not to shake pellets from the tub, from now on i shall put them in my hand first and check for foreign objects!!!

oooh remz please post a piccy of the dog, i love dingo's

how is the oscar doing now???
I'll see if i can dig one up.... I don't have anything digital as he was a family pet when i was much younger. I'm a huge fan of dingos now as well.... especially dingo/shepard mixes. He had all of the 'cattle dog' coloring, with a dingo body/head. Was quite mean too , but a great dog.

However, I got this guy 2 weeks ago and he has almost identical coloration. This is Bandit.... sry, don't have any better pics.
