Hi I'm new to the website (HELLO!) and I am looking for some advice regarding my tank.

I currently have a tank with 3 Bala sharks (approx 3" each) a Gold sucking catfish and a Botia loach. My question is would I be able to add a Red Bellied Piranha to this tank without it attacking my other fish? The Red Bellied Piranha that I have seen is still young so is approx 1" in size.

Any advice would be great!

Thank you!!

is this a wind up ? you really asking wether a Red Bellied Piranha wont eat your other fish - please accept appologies if this is a serious question
but no a Red Bellied Piranha even a small one will still try and kill the other fish - its in their nature

what size tank is it ?

Hmmm let me think on this for a minute..............................No. Welcome though :)

NO this wasnt a joke. I wont bother putting one in then....

Thanks for the speedy reply

The tank is a 160L Juwel one

Here is a pic from about 1 month ago of the tank

Also what other fish would go well with the current stock?

Well your not going to like this, but I shall be as gentle as possible. The tank is not large enough for the bala's that you have currently, they require a 5/6ft tank for good health and to reach their maximum adult size, they also prefer to be in larger groups 6+. So these will need rehoming Im afraid. Gold sucking loach, is this a siamese or chinese algae eater or something else? Cant comment on the botia loach, as I know diddly about loaches, but someone else can tell you about that.

nice looking tank but as said the balas will need a larger tank - sorry hun

Thanks very much! yeah think I will wait until they have a few extra inches on them before moving them to a bigger tank.

I bet that tank is no more than 2months old and was probably not cycled.

Looks very good though.

edited for spelling

Thank you!

I have had the tank 6 months, the tank was previously owned by a friend which had it running for approx a year with Angelfish and a few mollies. The filters were cycled. as he removed the fish in the morning and handed it strait over so the filters remained wet. I then filled the tank and let it run through for 3 weeks before adding fish.

This isn't my first tank.

you must clean it extreemly well then that gravel is like snow and the plants are spotless. It looks so fresh its amazing

That means the tank was not cycled as all the bacteria would have died off

unless you added amonia daily?

Like I said with the pic that approx a month old, plants have been nibbled a bit more now and yes the gravel is completely clear as i clean it through once a week. And the Gold algae eater does his/her job on the gravel as well.
