Hi everybody, I was just looking at my fish and saw were one of them has had a good half of her tail fin nibbled off. Will it grow back. She appears healthly, she is just missing some of her fin and has some scale nibbled off her tail. There is no apparent wounds. Please help!

HI Shari800 and welcome to the forum.

Which fish is missing part of it's tail? I don't see anything that should be a problem withe the inhabitants except possibley the betta. Sometimes those work well in community tanks and sometimes they don't. My son had a betta in a tank for almost a year with no problems and then came home one day to find it had almost no tail or fins because something had attacked it that day.

If you can seperate the injured fish it would be best. You may not need to add any medication but melafix may help with the regrowth. The tail will probably grow back fine without any medication.

Hi rdd1952, The fish missing part of it's tail is my female golden gourami. The betta appears to be doing just fine. :flex: I have a hospital tank I can put her in. Do you know around how long it take for fish to grow their fins back? I really appreciate you letting me know they will grow their fins back ( it take a major load off my mind) I was afaird I was going to loose her just because of it. Thanks again :kewlpics:

Not really sure how long it will tank. You may want to post in the Gouramis and Anabantoids Section. They could probably give you more help since I have never kept gouramis.
