Hello, my next question is why do my silver dollars hide when the tank light is on, but when i turn it off they become very active?? it it because when the light is on they can see me better and there are scared or is 2 a small group and they need more to feel secure?

How many do you have SD do better in groups but are very skittish fish and do take a while to get used to things.

I have 2, yes they r very skittish bit there prolly my favorite fish in the tank right now. in a few day i think I'm getting a puffer.

Try adding more decor or some big plants. The Dollars are a shy fish and if they have plenty of places to hide it encourages them to come out more! Reason being that they feel much safer knowing they have somewhere to hide fast if need be.

Hope it works coz they are a lovely fish, like to be in a bigger group though, say 4 minimum.

Not sure if the Puffer will get a taste for the Dollars fins, maybe someone else will comment on this.

Puffers are only suited to species tanks really, with very few exceptions they dont play well with others.
