Does anyone know why shrimp are so expensive in the UK!!!!? and is mail order live stock worth considering???

Current prices for cleaner shrimps here in Yorkshire:

£ 12.00 / 14.99 / 17.99.

That's really expensive for an easy to keep animal that eats almost everything and it otherwise quite hardy, too.

just because a fish/invert is easy to take care of etc doesnt make it cheap, it depends on rarity, how the shipment was, how the catch was, then the store needs to make a profit and raise the price a bit.

But aren't many shrimps abundant on the piers of many harbours?

No expensive boat or so needed, simply climb down and collect them. The airport is nearby.

They are even used to stinkin' water and won't have any problems during the shipping or in the LFSes tanks. :hyper:

They shouldn't cost more than a snail.

Shrimps near me are £1.99 or 3 for £5 and i live in yorkshire

Just be thankfull of the price.... Shrimp (cleaner shrimp especially) in Australia are $80 + (thats around £25 each at least)

I would love some cleaner shrimp but rather not have to sell my legs and arms to get them

well good luck catching one that way, more specifically, the ones that look nice, not the gray ones that are used to be eaten.
