:D Well I decided to make my 15 gallon really pretty! I was tired of it's pitiful 1 WPG stopping me from adding good plants. Last week I modified the eclipse hood to use incandescent bulbs and put in two 10 watt Mini Compact bulbs to hold it till over till the real bulbs arrive. I shall be installing 2 20-Watt Coralife Mini Compact Colormax Bulbs. I shall also be replacing the substrate with Seachem Flourite.

Anyway this shall give me 2.6 WPG and a nice substrate to grow some nice stuff and keep it pretty. I shall keep my betta in there and add many more glow light tetras after I move the black neon tetras to the 72 gallon. sadly the regular neon can not joint their black cousins, they all died during a power failure. In the future I might make this tank a Female betta tank and use my 10 gallon for Mr.. Betta.

anyway, how should I go about changing the substrate?

in anycase, this shall soon become a journel. I need to up date my 72 gallon journel. :S

when changing substrate my advice is fill up a bucket with the curent tank water, drop your fish in it and do your work.

also a side note.. how many glow lights are you adding? 15 gallons isn't very big..

the total number will probably be about ten..
