I have a severe case of whitespot which i have started to treat, but my other concern is my silver shark who seems to be 'bleeding' internally? Around the eye and in the fins it's red as if blood is leaking into them. Any ideas please?

Have you tested the water at all, and if so what were the results?

How big is the tank, and is it cycled? What species of fish (and how many of each) do you have in there?

Tank is well established, over 10 years old. I cant list every fish in there, its a 300 litre tank and i've done nothing new, havent added any new fish, nothing at all except a regular water change, then a day later extremely bad whitespot and this 1 fish with red streaking.

Did you dechlorinate the water? Can easily be forgotten.

How you go about treating Ich depends entirely on what fish are in the tank...

Some fish are intolerant to salt, some can cope with a relatively slow rise in salt to a relatively low level (eg. 0.25g per litre on day1 and day2 only), some can cope with moderate increases in salt levels to moderate final concentrations.

Some fish can cope with 30+C temps that will kill many Ich variants outright, raised gradually over a day or so, with increased water surface rippling to keep oxygen levels as good as they can be (warm water holds less oxygen). Others will stress badly at much more than 26C.

In terms of meds, I swear by Esha Exit these days for Ich treatment, I have to order it online from a store that also stocks Esha 2000 (that can be safely used alongside Exit if bacterial issues are going on at the same time). I had a nasty outbreak in Feb 2012 in my 140l, it killed at least 8 fish plus no doubt some Ilyodon fry. The tank was finally "cured" after 14 days of Esha Exit with 0.5g per litre Sainsburys Coarse Sea Salt at 26C.

Yes, we do at least need to know what species you have, even if you can't give exact numbers.

Internal bleeding is not a symptom of white spot / itch !! Couldn't it be a bacterial infection. Not every white spot is Ich ! Can you place a pic?
