I have been fighting an ammonia problem (which at the moment appears to be resolved, here's hoping). Now a white reside is forming on the surfaces in my tank (glass, leaves on plants, etc.) . I googled it and read that it could be due to hard water, which I have. In the past two days I have done 3 30% water changes and one 50% plus very thorough gavel vac to get the ammonia down to 0. Could all this have caused this white residue (it wipes off easily)? I've not had this problem before.

30 gal tank with 2 filters, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10 nitrate

2 angels
5 cory cats
8 tetras
2 siamese algae eaters
snails

Thanks!
