Hi all,

In a month or so I'll be setting up a new 2ft tank. I'm after advice on the substrate to use. Planning on a carpet of Lilaeopsis brasiliensis, with some Hygro and maybe a bit of Pennywort, then a large piece of wood covered in ferns and anubias. I will have pressurized CO2, EI dosing ferts, and high lighting. The water in my area is very high in GH and KH (around 14*) and I wondered if I should try something to lower it, like a peaty substrate? Not planning on keeping any particularly fussy species, probably Kuhli loaches, cherry barbs, ammano shrimp, possibly a pair of betta imbellis or similar.

Any advice would be much appreciated
