Which Substrate Should I Use?

well i would use very fine gravel

It comes down to preference. I prefer sand - it allows for easy digging and burrowing and keeps the tank cleaner in the long run than gravel - I've taken to using sand with all my fish, but it started with my cichlids. Both sand and finer gravel work, but avoid big stone type gravel.

if u want to observe them earth eating then use sand otherwise it wont matter what substrate

id go with sand as they are eartheater-like in their behaviour and sand is much better as it will not damage their mouths . you could use gravel but make sure it is fine and not too sharp or coarse .
