Where To Buy Bettas In Va?

I live in northern virginia, all the local pet shops only sell regular bettas and crowntails. I want to purchase a moontail betta. Can anyone on this board recommend a place to purchase a moontail betta in my area 703. I would purchase one from aquabid, but they're kinda pricey after adding on shipping, and they might not survive the trip. Anyways if anyone know a breeder or can recommend a store that has moontail bettas i'll appreciated it. And I notice that most people on this forum are from the UK...is there another forum with more U.S members? Maybe i'll have better luck asking there. Thanks in advance!

this is addressed in an earlier thread, but you'll find very few stores sell halfmoons. I've only ever seen them online. they tend to be more expensive and more prone to fin rot than the other sort, so its would be difficult for a store to make its money back off the stock. that said, i believe some people on this forum have found halfmoons and other tail types at their local LFS but largely these seem to be flukes.

I have ordered a few from aquabid and may be breeding them myself, but I have not finished setting up for it. I live in Virginia as well, and while I haven't gotten to the breeding point yet, if and when I ever do I'll probably buy from Aquabid... VA Bettas unite! Muwaha. sorry. Yeah, keep us updated, okay Tammy? I'd be willing to drive to pick up fish to avoid having to worry about sending them in the mail.

I would definately be interested in purchasing a half moon off you when they're available. Do you have an estimate of how much more time till those fry's come out and play?

Wow, I am surprised there are so many people here from Virginia! I'll have to get a move on. I'm trying to make sure I get everything right. It seems there are no guarantees with breeding so we'll have to wait and see about a time frame. I'll let you guys know.
