Hi,
I recently picked up an Onion Snail (vittina semiconica)
I've heard that once they've eaten all the algae in the tank they need feeding,
I have a 30L tank so it may run out of algae pretty quickly.
How long does it generally take before it needs feeding?
How will I know if it is starving?
Can I feed it cucumber or fish flakes or do I need special food?
Thanks for any help,
T

When you notice the tank has 70% of the visible algae removed so only 30% remains you should start feeding.
Feed it sinking algae pellets meant for shrimp or snails every fish shop has them but sometimes they are tucked away on a lower shelf.
Feed it around 15 minutes after your fish,so your fish are less tempted to steal the food for the snail. It helps to feed in the same place every time you feed.
Cucumber is not very nutritious, courgettes are a better alternative, a crushed pea also goes down well usualy. I use veg as treats 2-3 week not as the staple food, algae pellets are the best alternative to real algae.

Nerites can't be fed. You need to add algae-fied stones or move the tank so it gets some direct sunlight.
