Got to be sand, I just dont like the look of a bare bottom (i'm staying away from the obvious joke  )

haha what joke?? I don't know of any possible joke...

Anyways. I think barebottom is more for high flow sps tanks. They can't hold the sand down...haha! but it makes for easier cleaning.

A bare bottom just looks unnatural, so its sand for me

I have always had sand in my tanks, except my current one.

It was never planned, i changed over tanks and never got around to putting sand in, it is so much easier to maintain, i have loads of nice flow all around and no detrius build up.

always like sand in mine.

thought about using that pond mat this time with sand stuck to it. then i have the apearance of sand, but the benefits of bare bottom

I prefer the look of sand but all my tanks have been bare bottomed for the last couple of years (wasn't planned, just never got round to it). They are a lot easier to maintain and the bottom ends up getting covered in coraline anyway.

There are pros and cons to both though.

I like the look of sand, but I also wanted sand dwelling creatures, i.e. Leopard wrasse, so having no sand does limit some of your stocking choices...

sandy for me

the odd times I;ve had bare tanks in fresh I;ve never liked them
