i'm a AS student studying economics, business, sociology and IT just thinking about which one too drop. but i work part time at my lfs selling fish and pond supplies.

Drop sociology, It's a useless subject.
So's IT, i did a degree and it's useless! it's best in It to just go and specialise in something, general qualifications arent worth theyre paper theyre wrote on.

But IT has relevance to lots of jobs and is a useful skill to have, Sociology is not.... Unless you want to do something like Child Care...

I am an emergency road service dispatcher.
graduated Rhode Island College with a BA in Psychology last may.
considering going back...just can't afford it yet!

What does an emergency road service dispatcher do?

A-level student studying Mathematics, ICT and Business. Got kept behind a year, and going to University in September to study Civil Engineering.

Good choice :good:. I did a module on civil engineering and I loved it. I applied to do civil engineering as a MSc but they were so rude to me (the applications people) that I thought I'd do something else. I did pipeline engineering instead :). So err I'm a pipeline engineer; for the big oil and gas companies; well I work for a small company who does contract work for the big companies :)

i hope the big company wasn't bp.

Indeed, I'm looking forward to studying this at University it sounds like a good career and there are so many different areas you can work in once you have your degree.

thanks guys for the heads up to be honest the only reason i'm at sixth form is cause i didn't wanna start working but now i can't wait. I hoping to get a law degree through working for my auntie and uncles law firm should be funnn. :D

Law courses are very competitive so buckle down and get good grades otherwise you'll struggle.

what kind of law do you want to do? the legal profession for publically funded work is on its backside
the amount of prospective trainees far outweighs the jobs on offer its so competitive these days and I feel so much for the hundreds of speculative applicants we get each week
I did law expecting untold riches when the reality is not like that so have a good look into it before you dive in

and good luck :good:

thanks yer that's what i'm hearing from people within the trade. I'm thinking i will do something along the lines of business law as that what my family does also have managed to get work experience lined up with them in a few weeks for a couple of weeks to get to a feel for what its like. I think they specialize in liquidation and debt collecting.

i'm currently in year 9 at secondary. but i'm hoping to be a vet in the future. :D

I own and run a scaffolding company....so any builders, roofers or any of you guys and girls need scaffolding drop us a line... :good:

Previously sound engineer, which whenever I get the chance to do a job I jump at the chance, so much fun.

Now the occasional bit of freelance design, but trying to get on architecture course. Which I've heard is as bad as the legal stuff you've mentioned. But in all honesty I'm more interested in starting my own company doing prefab stuff, but I want to specialise in post disaster emergency housing so I've got ideas running through my head for a bunch of standard units which fold flat for transport and unfold in a matter of minutes ready for people to live in.

shhh, you'll give all of your ideas away.

If my ideas help people that's the real goal, as long as I can make a living for the rest of my life I don't mind.

I'm a Shaft Ventilation Engineer at a deep Platinum Mine responsible for air/water pollution and other aspects related to occupational health and Hygienne (including ergonomics, noise control, Illumination, and the likes) Been doing this now for 40 years (on Gold, Diamond and Platinum mining)

Below is a mine shaft where people are lowered into the mine up to 3km below surface. (Platinum ore is also brought to surface in skips and then conveyed to the giant silos you see on the right.... We handle about 160,000 tons of ore per month.
