Okay so planted these swords in around 2-3 weeks ago, New growth is coming, but these leaves don't look so great. Are they melting or Defficient in something? I have Just added Root Tabs Tonight in a bid to improve things.

I have trimmed the leaves off and let the new growth receive all the nutrients

It does look like nutrient deficiency to me mate.

The roots tabs should help. You adding any ferts into the water ?

What lighting do you have and what is the size of the aquarium? Do you dose any ferts or add any co2?

Currently Running 2 x 39w T5 Lighting Over my 4' 75 G Tank. So just over 1 WPG, No CO2 in this tank, 1 Dose of James All in one Per week:
10g Potassium Nitrate
2.3g Potassium Phosphate (monobasic)
4.0g Potassium Sulphate
8.0g Magnesium Sulphate Heptahydrate (Epsom Salts)
0.5g E300 Ascorbic Acid
0.2g E202 Potassium Sorbate
6g EDTA Chelated Trace Elements Mix (TNC Trace, CSM+B)
500ml distilled water

They are adjusting to your water conditions. They will have probably have been grown emersed before you got them, then you have submersed them in your tank and they don't like it so the 'old' leaves will die back and it will send new leaves that will be fine. Remove the old leaves as they won't recover and ensure that the crown of the plant is a touch above the substrate.

Cheers Minnnt. Already trimmed them back and the crown is just above, Like I Said I added root tabs to help the plants grpw lush too

No probs phil. They will help a little, but I think the fert that you're dosing will be more beneficial to them.

Okay, Thanks Mint, Ianho too for the confirmation. Thinking or ripping out some plants from my tank and going for a alot of a few species rather than a few of alot of species , and amazons are what I want to be a majot focul point so keen to get them looking good

Are you mixing the trace mix with the NPK mix all in one bottle? Not a good idea as I understand that the iron will react with the phosphate and render them both pretty useless.

His Ascorbic Acid is there to lessen that :good:

Plus, while mixing these things may form insoluble compounds I'm not totally sure there aren't bacteria present that may solubise them (phosphorous)....unless that just happens in soil....

As SO19 Says the Ascorbic Acid is added to help Over come this

my two swords have taken 6 months to drop their emersed leaves and start growing thinner submersed ones :/
