Whats The Best Way Of Transfering Fish Tank To Tank?

Hi, when I moved my fish to their new tank I just caught them in a net and put them straight in the new tank. I caught the Pleco in a plastic box so he wouldn't get tangled up. :) You don't need to bag them, unless I did it wrong!

depends on if both tanks are running at the same parameters
temp, pH, ammonia,no2,no3 etc
if so then the above methods are ok
if not then bag as the LFSdoes.

If the tanks are the same water parameters & close to each other, just net them & walk them over. I've done this with tanks that are a couple of degrees different in temperature without a problem. All but one of my tanks are downstairs, if I transfer fish to or from the upstairs tank, a large cup, or a bucket for larger fish works best.

Unless the tanks vary widely in temp, pH, or hardness, you should be fine putting them right in. One of the tricks for getting many fish to spawn is to do a water change with cooler, softer water. This imitates the rainy season in many areas, triggering spawning.

Hi. I like to corral the fish into a large glass jar with a net in order to move them to another tank. That way you don't have to touch them with the net at all. I figure it might be less stressful for them, and if you don't touch them then you don't run the risk of hurting them either. However just catching them with the net is probably easiest.

of more concern is, please tell me that you are using the old filter or a cycled filter in the new tank....
