I'm currently doing a fishless cycle on a 60L aquarium and it appears something has started to form on the glass panes and the Eheim internal filter. I don't know what it is and I'm a bit puzzled as to why it would form in this tank given that I cycled my 120L aquarium in the exact same way and no such formation occurred.

The tank is being dosed with 3.15ml of Ammonia every 12 hours. Ammonia 0, Nitrite 1.0, PH 8.0, Temperature: 28+ degrees C

Here are some pictures of the formation:

I assume nothing on this page matches the description?

Well I guess it could be the grey form of algae listed on that page but it doesn't seem to be spreading much and the tank doesn't get any light.

Once you take chlorine-based inhibitors out of the water and provide some ammonia and light you are of course setting up a natural aquatic enviroment that the world's xx million species of algae, fungus, mold, plants and fish can begin to recognize and "work with." ..Lots and lots of living cells might find your water interesting.

One thing I gleaned from the experience passed around here on TFF and from my own more limited experiences is that the vast majority of the time these things, whether they are molds or fungi or whatever just go away by themselves and never cause you problems again. There are just stages of a new body of water that seem to attract them for a while.

Of course, in rare cases they stick around as a problem and that's what you're asking about but most of the ones that tend to be problems are more well known to all of us, so I suspect yours are among the many that just come and go and don't continue to be a problem. Nothing particularly wrong with cleaning a bit during a fishless cycle or you can just let that go until the big water change as long as it doesnt lool like algae that's going to get tough.
