I bought two pairs of these fish. In the shop I'm sure it was listed as 'neon rancoulli' but now I'm home I can't find it listed anywhere. I know the pic is the male as the female is very plain, almost albino-like. I was told they're community fish and grow no more than 2.5" but what are they? I'm new to the scene so any help is appreciated. male.jpg

Might it be Nothobranchius rachovii?

I'd surely agree with that...aka a Killifish!

Thank you both. It's in with Tetras (Silvertip, Lemon and Black Widow) so I hope they'll do ok. They're still finding their feet (or should I say fins) at the moment but at least I now know what they are.

+1 on the ID

It will do fine in with the tetras too!

People on here love photos, maybe it'd be a good idea to start a photo journal? ;)

What kind of tank do you have? I have a tropical community aquarium, this looks like an oddball I might need to have!

Definitely a killifish. They may require a little salt once they start breeding. They also tend to be a bit on the aggressive side so watch out for that :)

Yes I agree they can a bit aggressive
