What To Put In A 55g Tank?

HI I am getting a 55g tank soon and im wondering what to put in it. Any suggestions?

You have lot's of choices. Look the the fish archives, and take a look at what's compatible. A cichlid tank would be good.

Go to your LFSs and see what they have & what you like. Then come back here and research if they could be compatible with each other in your tank.

And here's one suggestion for your 55g; a freshwater community tank with rainbowfishes, cories, tetras, rasboras, and a bristlenose pleco.

I think cichlid tanks are awesome, and very amazing. There colourful and exciting fish.

now i like livebearers but 40 in a tank seems to be a waste of space unless its like 400+ gal in size.

i agree a cichlid tank would be best to do. but research the possible inhabitants and compatibility first as some are much more agressive then others.

i just finished setting up a 55 gal US myself (i cloned the tank from a buddies WELL established tank filter) but all i have is a Jellybean parrot fish and a common pleco (temp home for pleco). i plan to possible add convicts and severums to the tank as well, maybe a blood parrot but not entirely sure.

The problem is my lfs is petco so i cant even get severums

none of these fish are a severum. if you have a petsmart around your area, senegal bichirs are called dinosaur eels or dinosaur bichir. petsmart should have bichirs and the knives and maybe the butterfly fish. most petcos are crap when it comes to fish.

I like their blue rams and they have alot of neat tetras oh and im only getting a 29 gallon because i dont have room for a 55
