trying to come up with a stocking in my 240 so far i know 100% a rottie severum is going in but i dont know what else to add ive thought of rams, geos, also i want dithers to go in there i was thinking rummy noses? any ideas on what to stock ?

Lots of fish can go with most severum. My severums have been good with small fish and they are not big time killers. I would not recomened putting small schooling fish with as large cichlids that well get over 4" this is just what I have learned the hard way.

Geos would be a good pick for sure.

Completely off topic sorry.

Snowflake I want your parrot  :hyper:

My Rottie parents are very laid back and placid, even when spawning. I dont actually bother with small dithers myself, but as for other cichlids I have babies in with Keyholes and Krobia, other sevs and even in with an oscar, they are placid enough to mix with most yet brave enough not to take any nonsence from other fish.

I dont know how rummynoses would work in this tank to be honest. I mean they might work with your sev but I reckon they could limit your choices say for example if you wanted to mix in some central american cichlids.

Smallest I would go would be things like X-Ray/Lemon Tetras - Flame Tetras would be pretty good.

sev and geos is pushing it a bit in a tank that small imo . i found geos can be very territorial and given that they are kept in groups a 240 doesnt give much space.

as for smaller fish , i found that tiger barbs worked brilliantly with my sevs . just make sure to have a decent sized group , say around 10

Alternatively to Geos have you concidered Gymnogeo's? I'm looking at Geophagus sp Pindare at the minute.

I would avoid Gymnogeophagus because of their specialist needs - their cooling peroid is vital to their survival and without it die off very quickly after the first year or so.

haha thanks star yes she is a sexy fish.

how big is 240L thats what around 60Gal I think.. yeah that is a bit small for a Severum with some Geos. You could do Severums with some Rams. and maybe another smaller cichild or you could try some big schooling fish.

thanks everyone just so much choice i think id really to have a school of smaller fish with the severum and then another cichild or pair ( same sex) any suggestions i like the idea of rams. also i think i wont go for geos then :(

severum 1
ram 2
schooling fish 6-8 ? flame tetras?

please send as much different fish ideas n stock ideas as it always to get others ideas cheers alot

I would probs do the severum and then a group of 5/6 cupid cichlids with 3 Hoplo catfish and 10 Flame Tetra - maybe going upto 15 tetras.

I think the cupid cichlids are going to be a good fish to fill the need you have there. A lot of the photos on the net do not do them justice especially adults - IMO these are the best ones of adults http://www.aquatic-experts.com/Biotodoma_wavrini.html - thats B.Wavrini but B.Cupido is more greeny. All in all not a great deal of difference.

those pictures do make me like them more as im not so much of a fan of the main images found on google to bland and i do have a clown pleco so i would probably leave the catfish out. is there another cichlids that are same as cupids that i could have instead also i like the idea of a large group of tetras. hopefully getting my severum this weekend ! cheers will for the ideas

also would snails work with this stocking ?

Have you thought about some small barbs as dithers, i keep odessa barbs and now i've added some tiger barbs into the mix they're smallish hardy and pretty nuts

hi i have a trio of odessa barbs at the moment i like them but i want something different as ive had them awhile so i think ill probably be selling them soon
