So I am 'fairly' happy with my tank but I don't know what to do with it next. I feels like something is missing, maybe more/taller wood? What do you all think?

I like it the way it is tbh. Maybe a large rock or two in there? :good:

for me I would try and disguise the filter somehow, I don't like to see equipment in tank, but otherwise its a great looking tank

I think you're right, a taller piece of wood would give the tank something more.

I agree with the filter being hidden a bit more, for whatever reason the plant (hygrophila?) on the left hand side hasn't grown as quick as the stuff in the centre even though it was all bought at the same time. Keep looking at external filters for that exact reason. I really like the idea of changing the small bit of wood on the right hand side for something a fair bit taller.

Its now getting to a point that I need to trim it all because it is starting to grow out of the water now.

I managed to get to my LFS yesterday and buy some taller wood that I liked. Here are a few pics of it in the tank, I think it makes the tank look much better.
It isnt staying in the tank yet because I want it to soak for a while first but I placed it in there to make sure it fitted. I apologise for the bad pictures

I like that piece of wood! Good find! And that filter on the left is far less noticeable now that the plant in front has grown some.

Thanks, my local place had loads of it and the staff were laughing at how long i spent routing around the pile for the right piece :)

Tis no laughing matter. It's a long term commitment buying a piece of hardscape.

By the way, the plant in front of the filter is a hygrophila corymbosa. It can take a while to get going, but once it's got started it grows like a weed.
