I came home a few days ago to find my 100ltr tank had sprung a leak, so i found a 60l tank online and have transferred my fish and filter to it so i can repair the 100l. I dont know what to do about all of my plants. i have re-homed the swords but dont think the tank is big enough to take the rest of them... so not sure what to do with them. they are in a bucket with old tank water in it but dont want to leave them there for too long...

Plants have a starch based reserve which they can feed on for up to 3 days of total darkness, keep the tank well oxygenated and make sure no parts of the plants are sticking out of the water. What lighting have you got on the 60L?. You might want to try the plant discussion or put it in the Tropical Emergencies section

The lighting is something i have't seen before its an 18" tube about an inch in diameter but on it is says its for plant growth so it isn't white its got a sort of purple hue to it!!
I might just plant everything into the 60l till i can get the other one repaired.

Thats what i would do and then just hope for the best, its probably a T8 bulb not very good, but classic, and those bulbs in the pro lux ones turn purple so... try and fix as fast as possible

the plants will be fine in a bucket...they are in complete darkness for a fair while whilst being shipped. They will last longer than 3 days. Don't worry if they are not fully submerged as most of the aquatic plants you buy are actually grown out of water. Don't worry about the bulb of the 60l either, T8's are fine for growing plants. Plants will adapt to any kind of light.
