What kind of sand...

that is cheap? I want to swith my 46 gal tank from gravel to sand, but no one around here sells aquarium sand. Is play sand alright? sand blasting sand? as long as I clean it really well? Any suggestion would be great.

I KNOW A FEW PEEPS USE PLAY SAND BUT I WOULDNT USE SHOT BLASTING SAND AS IT TENDS TO HAVE LOTS OF IMPURITIES .

As long as you rinse it well you can use almost any sand; play sand, blasting sand, pool filter sand, construction sand, river sand... you get the idea. All of these are sold for just a couple of bucks for 20kg bags. I use construction sand if I want something darker, and play sand for lighter.

Looks like I will be going to invest in some play sand today.

Now, about the rinsing...do I just put some in a bucket, add more water, stir it, empty water on the top, and repeat? This will be my first experience with it all.
