Really my rainbow seems to love it.

Please don't be anything bad

Apparently it's just a bacteria which clears up after a while.... ive herd many reports of fish and shrimp eating it with no detrimental effects.... some remove the wood and rub it off but this is usually because it's unsightly.

No, it's not bad, and as you've found some fish do like it.

It's a algae that grows on nutrients leaching from the wood. Once that stops, it'll go away.

Thank god its not bad

Weirdly I don't mind it.

Strange I know but I am a few spammers short of a full tool box lol.

It wasn't there this morning which freaked me out abit on how much its grown if it gets to much ill pull it out and clear it off

Thanks for all your replies guys much appreciated

I had it on mine when I first got bogwood, by all accounts its harmless as has already been said. If you want to get rid of it, boil it for a while. I boiled it for half an hour and it grew back within a couple of days. Then i boiled it for a few hours, and it never came back again.

I had it in one of my tanks after I added the driftwood. It looked pretty bad. The pleco polished it within days of putting him in and is still alive a year later.
