It's trace amounts of ammonia that do not register on the average test kit.

Nearly 2 weeks but surely it would have appeared before now, it has awesome flow as well and the filter is mature.

Make sure you do daily water changes and they should go fairly soon.

It's not about flow with Diatioms, it's about the light (and the ammonia of cause). Lower the photo period, and leave it alone, it will go. Nearly all new systems suffer diatoms, if they don't they are lucky. I know we shouldn't add fish/shrimps to keep things in check, but amanos will take care of it as well.
