What Is The Biggest Thing That My Severum Will Eat

hello there ive got a gold severum which is about 3 inches long and id just like 2 know wot live food it can eat, he loves bloodworms and catfish pellets which he eats now but id like 2 know if he will eventually eat things like crickets, locusts, wax worms, goldfish, guppies etc. and how big wud it have to be, please let me know what your severum eats and id be very greatful to know as id like to have my fish as healthy and as big as possible, thanks in advance

infact please let me know if your fish eats anything like crickets, other fish, worms, locusts, mice, etc. ( dosnt matter what fish you have ) thanks for your time n please reply

i would wait till he is around 4-6 inch for insects as severums dont have huge mouths and as for the goldfish i advise against that its not their natural food they arent a predatory fish so its pointless feeding them feeders but everything else i would say between 4-6 inch is usually when they can get their mouth around things

as said never feed guppies or goldfish its a waste of time and could habour hamful bacteria and pass it on......
put it this way both my polleni and chocolate cichlids both 2inches can easy manage a meal worm no problem<it does stick out there mouth for a while but fine in end, chop up earth worms<night crawlers>get feeder shrimp from lfs,prawns,mussles,even crab stick chopped up goes down well.....frozen foods from lfs for cichlids are good,,,best thing mind is a good staple cichlid pellet,,,use others as treats,,,even desheeled peas helps with constipation

yo nelly thanks, erm wot do i av 2 do 2 the worm before feeding it 2 my severum? do i have 2 put them in boiling water 2 kill germs then chop it up? what insects have u fed yours before? i might go and get sum meal worm from my LFS tomorrow

Well i wash my earth worms and chuck em in ,,,, used to chop them up when my oscars were smaller, i also feed feeder shrimp/ woodlice/spiders/craneflys/ants/meal worms<have a large tub of freeze dried meal worms aswell,,,,,

you could also feed them small crickets i fed them to mine and they loved it also its fun to watch them snatch it off the service a lot better than feeding other fish and also another source of live food i will be feeding my JD and thread fin crickets soon they are both about 3.5-4" now

thanks foley ill try crickets, i might also buy some waxworms from the LFS too, they will eat them wont they,
