I started to notice white hair things hanging on to the side of my tank????? When i went to the fish shop i asked about them and how to get rid of them they said wipe them off when i tried they came of but grew back again ! but they're not affecting my fish(well i hope they're not!)

Fairly standard for a tank... it's probably algae... just invest in an algae cleaner and use it to clean the front glass :)

Never heard of white algae.

i have similar all over my tanks its more like a gellish substance it seems and is slimy it wipes off easily but grows back just as fast i would also like to know what exactly it is

i just looked a bit more carefully and realised its mor dust stuff than hairs really. I herad that the hairs are worms but if they are they aren't affecting my fish???????What shall i do??????????????????????????????

Sounds like planaria to me (did I spell that right? :p) ... tiny lil white/see through ish worms caused by overfeeding. Nothing bad at all, actually, your fish will probably enjoy eating them! However, I recommend cutting down on the amount of food you give them, they should dissappear in no time :) You might wanna just not feed at all for 2 or 3 days, and then give a lot less food than you do now.

I had blooms of white algae type stuff in my tank, after searching on google, the general opinion was White is bacteria and green is algae. Bacteria is not always bad same as it is not always bad to us. My plecs ate it same way as they do the algae. If you have a good magnifying glass, have a close look, mine looked like white trees blowing in the wind (current) through my small magnifying glass and have now gone after reading on here about over feeding. I was following the advice that came with the food to do it three times a day, as much as they can eat in five mins. I still feed three times a day, but only a third as much as I did. Now no white blooms.
