I have a 48litre tank and I’m going to be getting some Black Widow Tetras and Zebra Danios. I’d like a Betta but not sure if they are compatible??

Ideally I’d like something really colourful. Any ideas?

A Betta would work with those fish, although be carefull how many you add because a 48L really isnt all that big. In a traditional 2ft tank that holds 60-70L i'd be comfortable housing a Betta, with a shoal of 9 Zebra Danios, then having something interesting like a group of oto's or Japonica shrimp. I'm a firm believer of less is more, rather than having two of them, 3 of them and then 3 of another, i'd keep it simple and have 9 of one species to shoal as a 'focus'.

welcome to the forum, do you have a picture of your tank at the moment ? a betta would be a good choice as the colours are lovely

It depends on the betta, really.
Some boys will go for the danios because they're fast and striped, but some boys may just leave them alone.
Also, you may want to watch the tetras with a males fins, as they could get nippy.
Hopefully that'll give you a little help in your decision! :)

I would personally NOT put either of those fish in a tank that small. I recommend a stocking along the lines of..
* 1 Betta
* 8-10 green rasboras OR ruby tetras (OR maybe ember tetras..)
* a couple of nerite snails

Zebra danios are active fish, so I would not keep them in anything under 3 ft long. Black widows are also a decently large fish, so for them, I would want at least a 2 ft tank, preferably a 3 ft.
