what else can i get

I love my new hobby tropical fish are ace. Ive started with 4 platies but now have 9 neons (I did have 10 but my ACFrog ate 1) a golden algae eater and 3 fry not sure what they are, what else can i have? My tank is 36 x 15 x 12 I have removed the frog for my fishes safety. My daughter has got the tropical bug and now has a tank in her bedroom and she wants to keep angels - i know that these can be aggressive so what can she keep with these?

Please help with ideas for a loving community of fish (FISH EATERS NOT WELCOME) and advise for keeping angels

It depends on the size of the tank you have for your daughter. It also depends on the types of angels you intend to keep. Most angels look cute when they are in the lfs, because they are tiny and there are lots of them. Remember most angels will grow to around 6" and some will grow to 8". The min. size tank should be 24". Angels should be kept in shouls and kept away from smaller fish and fin nippers. Other such fish to avoid are the Chinese algae eaters, they tend to suck on anthing with a flat side. You should also provide plenty of reed type of plants. Plants such as Vallisneria or Aponogeton are very welcome and will show angels off to their best. I have 3 marbled angels (2xblack/white and 1 golden) I must admit they are lovely.

Try a school of bleeding heart tetras or rummy nose tetras. The rummies are very sensitve to water conditions though.

Val is a good, easy to maintain plant, but you may need to tye it into largish clumps as alot of fish may pull it out of the substrate every say....two seconds lol (talking from personal experience). the bigger the clumps, the longer it takes to pull out I find.

Note that angels need a tank that's at least 18 inches tall for their fins to develop. 20 inches is even better.
