I was wondering if you used the API master test kit to test for nitrates in your tanks?

I have been using it since I've got the tank and while the Nitrite, PH and Ammonia test result cards are easy to read, I find it really hard to read the Nitrate card because from 40-160 ppm, the reddish colour is almost indistinguishable - I'm sure for those that use the same test kit will know what I mean.

Should I get a separate Nitrate test kit from a different manufacturer? Anyone had better luck with other Nitrate test kits?

Cheers.

I'm afraid you'll find that they're almost all the same - and I find anything above 20ppm quite hard to distinguish. I've had Tetra and another brand (can't remember) before. But now have API.

Thanks Bloo, I guess the only way is to get Nitrate levels down to around the 15-20ppm mark - which is good for the tank anyway!
Cheers :D
