Im thinking of getting a betta mini cube for christmas and i was wondering if any of you had experience with this tank or nano tanks in genral.
Any info on the would be great.. :)

Is that the 8" betta cube... seen here...

I think that although it looks nice it's not really suitable for anything other than shrimp or super nano fish.. as in 2cm max.

firstly, please don't put a betta in it!!! personally, i'd get a slightly bigger tank, as what you can do with one of these is very limited. i think a 12" cube is the smallest i would go personally, because then you could have some fish and properly plant it if you so wished.

cheers :good:

Thanks for the quick replys :hyper:

Curiosity 101 - yes it is that tank :)

And Pest control - i wasnt planning keeping any betta in it, betta is the tanks name.. I was planning shrimp?

just making sure ;)

if you are looking to keep shrimp then i would still suggest a bigger tank, as in a bigger tank water parameters are easier to keep stable (which is essential in shrimp tanks) and you could keep more and breed them (depending upon species)

cheers

It could make a really really lovely planted desktop shrimp tank... maybe a bit more maintenance than your average large tank... but hey at 1.5 gal I can't see water changes being too hard lol.

Haha apart from the cataclysmic whirlpools when you try and siphon it out with anything! I've always wanted a little Nano tank but for those prices they're just far too much.

Anyway, I've always wondered How do you heat one of these? I've never seen a heater that wouldn't take up half of one of these? I wouldn't mind one for a place for my shrimp to stay though I would also like to have it heated so they don't die...

The TMC version comes with a heater, which I'd assume you could buy separately. Otherwise, there's a few little 10W heaters around (although most aren't thermostatted) and some especially tiny 25W ones.

that tank is small and shrimps would be great :good:
i dont know the exact tank size but you might be able to get some small tetras
