Hello everybody, I'm hoping to get a Cichlid tank sorted out, I've kept Rams, Kribs and Convicts in the past, but I've always fancied a species tank.

The tank in question is a Rio 125L

Feedback would be great

Thankyou

Neolamprologus multifasciatus from Lake Tanganyika. You could keep a colony of these shell-dwellers in 125l. Very interesting to watch & not hard to find in good shops.

Oh and another thing I have hard water around here, I don't have loads of money to spend either :-(

Lionhead Cichlids would live happily in hard water too (I have 11, 3-month old youngsters almost ready for new homes) ;)

I've had a ring round my local fish stores and nobody has them

Still can't find anybody that has some. What are the other alternatives?

I really like my Herotilapia multispinosa, rainbow cichlids. They are small enough to work well in a tank that size and breed readily if you provide them with lots of vegetable matter and enough decoration for them to have boundary markers for territory. When they start breeding, they can be very territorial. This is some of mine.

This is the smallest from that prior picture guarding some new hatched fry. The dark lower body color comes out when they are breeding.

How many would you reccomend putting in a 3ft 125L tank?
