boil it if possible, then put it in a bucket of water which contains some carbon. this will help remove any possible chemicals there might be.

yep, activated carbon will help to absorb any pesticides or other toxins which may be left in your root chunk. By the way, it is used in filters for this reason it absorbs nitrates for a while. also used in the Emergency Room, if you swallow something poisonous.

Just buy some from a fish store. If you can't find it there, try a pharmacy. then put a liberal amount in the water with your root and leave it there for a week or so.

yeah, actually i think you need a filter to keep water flowing through it so it can absorb... not sure!

thanks for the help but how much is a "liberal" amount of carbon?
can i keep it in a bucket with the carbon?
Do you know any ways to water lock it?
how long do i let it sit with the carbon?
Am I the dumbest kid you ever met?...lol

Thanks

im not really sure, im sure someone will come and answer it. if your sure it is from a clean source then i think you could put it in the tank after boiling and letting it sit in water. but not entirely sure!
