Hey all

Ok, so I'm new to the whole Betta thing. I got my first one this past January when a friend wanted help picking out tropical fish and the both of us ended up with a betta each (mine's name is Red) :p

Then this past week I went to the local Walmart with her again because they were advertising Crowntails on sale. They only had 2 Bettas on the shelf, and neither was a male crowntail, but 2 small females in almost no water that looked near death. So, for the rock-bottom price of $2.88 each, we each took one home, along with a vase, a bag of rocks, and a plant. The next day, I noticed the little girl I named Ruby wasn't really enjoying her big fish vase and seemed kinda lost with all the space, so my friend and I went to the local petstore to get Ruby one of those Betta starter tanks, and ended up coming home with ANOTHER Betta each, and thus I got Rainbow Fish (after the kids book).

So!

I thought I had figured out what each of them were, but now I'm not so sure!

Help would be appreciated!

(that's as big as his tail will flare...)

Thanks in advange for your help!

edit:: and fyi, yes I looked at the post about Betta tail types, but i'm still unsure. I always thought Red was a veiltail, but he looks nothing like Rainbow Fish, who also looking like he could be a veiltail...

:hyper: :hyper: beautiful. red is definitely a ct....(cross vt. )whilst I would say. Rainbow is a vt, Ruby looks like a vt girl but her tail looks a bit chewed so not sure. They are so beautiful.
I had a vt betta I took it to school where I worked. The kids loved it, 4/5 year olds, and one girl named him Rainbow Boy. He only stayed about a month as one special needs kid kept stirring the water up! This was about 2 years ago and the little girl who named him thinks I still have him, she dont know he is long gone to the Rainbow Pond!

This little fellow loves showing off for the cam, his name is Michi and he is my love, if I ever loose him, i will surely die....pride and joy! Wondering why his tail ends curl.....lol....looks silly but cute!

I have a girl named Morea but I fear she is dying.....wish me luck!

If anyone knows what these fish are please help me out!

Aww thanks...I'm quite proud of my beautiful babies!

Yeah I guessed that Rainbow Fish was a veiltail, which is what threw me off, seeing as him and Red look almost nothing alike and I thought Red was a veiltail originally...

Poor Rainbow Boy! :(

How much water do those betta kits hold? If it's less than a gallon, get her something bigger.
She may look as if she's out of plce at first, but they all need at the very least a gallon each.
Just get her a nice silk plant, some kind of cave she can hide in, and I'm sure in no time she'll love her new bigger home.

They all look great though.

which fish are you talking about?

Your female. You said you put her into a vase, but then got a betta kit for her instead b/c she looked nervous in the larger vase.
It's the same with all bettas though. I don't know what you're holding your males in, so I was just saying to make sure they all have at least a gallon each. B-)
