So glad to find this website. I'm an absolute beginner at fish. Have a beautiful betta and 3 danios, until the largest danio attacked and killed the others! Thought they were supposed to be docile. In mourning tonight.

Hi Elaine and to the forums.

I'm sorry for you loss; yes danios are peacefull but as you have found out, if kept in insufficant numbers one "alpha" fish will kill all the others. This aggressivness will not stop at the danios, s/he will go one to kill all other tank mates, fish or otherwise.

All danio species should be kept in groups of at least 5 but more is the better.
Just so you know you can mix and match, so you could have pearls, leopards and zebras etc together as a "school"
