Weird..Danios have..

whiskers? if you look really closely SOME have whiskers! look like a moustache!!

is the ones who have the "moustache" male?

There is a species of danio called moustached danio (Danio dangila), but I don't know if their called that because of the whiskers or for some other reason. But regular zebra danios have it too.

Edit: The "whiskers" are actually called barbels

Ya, it's weird how some don't have them. I have one male that has tiny ones but none of my long finned danios have them. Maybe it's just a male thing?

More than likely it was a gene bread out in the "mustache Danio" and it shows up when the Danios breed in big ponds before going to the lfs every so often maybe like blue eyes from 2 brwn eyed parents (my theory)

u could have blue eyes and brown hair even if nobody in ur family had light hair, but i think the danios probably cross bred

Yes that is what I just stated ... LOL .... sometimes a trait skips a genration ... It could be a inbred species suck as a balloon or as I said a trait bred out and mixed into the whole lot ... lol it was like you guys repeated what I said in a different text

Nope its not that at all. all of your Healthy danios will have them its just that they lay them down into groves on the surface of the skin. They are members of the Carp family and just like Koi and SAE's they have 4 barbels.

and some have none.
