Well, I had my female betta(B. imbellis) putted inside my tank(4 gallons) with my male beta(crowntail) just about 2 hours ago. My female is pregnet but dosent seem to do anything when I putted Her in. The bubble nest was made but she dosen't seem to be attracted. The male tries to get her attention but the female just swims away. She stays on the bottom of the tank laying there doing nothing with her pregnet self.(lol) I don't know why she's doing this but . . . weird. So what i did was put her in a little cup. Then putted her in the tank with her in the cup. (hard to explain sorry.) Now the male just swims around her. She does nothing. I setted my tank to about . . . 2 in a half inches of water(not cold not warm but both). no rocks. live plants. and heater.

Any suggestions?Questions? or give me some tips?

Right now the female is still in the cup laying down (Bending and not dead). She looks like shes about to explode.(lol) Male just swiming around her. What should i do?

Hi

Whilst i cant offer you any advice concerning the spawning of Imbellis x Splenden, i can say that outcrossing of Splendens and the wild types is what introduced the now metallic coloured Splendens (coppers). The wild types tend to have a higher natural irredescence and this is where the metallic colours come from.

Check out the Asian betta alliance papers, or take a look at some Imbellis specific sites for some advice on their requirements, unless someone here knows :)

It’s possible the female B. imbellis has no interest in the crowntail because he is a B. splendens and they are different species. She will be looking for a smaller male with different colours, and he is wanting a female of his type. And although they did originally cross imbellis and splendens, it would seem a waste crossing a crowntail with an imbellis and producing a short fin hybrid.
Get your imbellis a boyfriend and then you will see some action :)

Also if you're female looks like the Imbellis pictured then you may have yourself a male not a female.

It does seem a shame to put such a beautiful CT with anything but a perfect match.
