ok i just ordered this moss of eBay : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Aquarium-Live-Plants-Weeping-Moss-3-x3-Fish-Tank-UK-/260873598257?pt=UK_Pet_Supplies_Fish&hash=item3cbd473531#ht_2857wt_1270

its say's it weeping moss but id like some clarification cos i read it was rear and it seemed fairly cheep?...

also when it arrives should i take it off the mesh or leave it? (its going on the point bit of the log to the right in my sig)

has anyone grown it emersed? if so how did you go about doing it? i want to try to propagate it for future tanks

It looks like weeping moss to me Mike. :good: It's not really rare, it is just less common and usually twice as much money as the Java Moss etc.

Peronally i would remove it from the mesh as you will be able to get it into all the nooks and crannies better.

As for emersed growing, i think it would dry out if it wasn't kept moist somehow, so maybe better off just being patient and growing it in your tank and thinning when required to use in other places. You can spread it pretty thinly and it will soon grab a hold of the wood.

thanks =] and iv got a small tank 1f with afew crypts and other things growing emersed so i might stick abit in there and abit in my 20L... that way if i lose it in 1 tank i dont have to buy more =]

so it was a fairly good deal? for the amount?

Yeah not bad at all!

When you do decide to plant the Crypts submersed you are going to get major melt :look:

i know that but it was left overs which i got so i may as well keep them growing than getting rid of them in my opinion iv also got HC emersesed dwarf hairgrass and micro swords i think... i know they'll melt but its allways nice to keep spares just incase worst comes to worst and i lose them all =] i nearly allways split my plants up

Good luck with the HC when you plant it in your tank  It needs high light and some sort of carbon too for it to even grow most of the time. :grr:

I don't understand how you don't have any room for the Crypts? They LOVE being bunched up together. Cram em in and nurse them through the melt and reap the rewards! If you want to move them on then sell em me! :D

i got about 7 plants in 1 pot from my LFS (not so local) i put about 4 in the conner of my tank (you can see in sig (left hand side)) i gave 1 away to a friend and theres 1 planted emersed and about 3 floating in my tank there growing quite well supprizeingly

Just plant them all in one mass mate, they will do much better and give you a much better perspective of the plant. If i was you i would look for some brown Crypts such as Wendtii Brown, Undulata, Bullosa etc. Get a few different colours in there so it keeps you looking for longer.

thanks =] i might do i'll see what my LFS has in next time im down there. do you know what type of crypt iv got ? i dont
