I spottedsome black thread like algae growing on a couple of leaves in my tank. There is not a lot of it but i thought i would check my water to see if the parameters were ok.
My tank is just under 6 months old and i test the water every week and get the same readings:
pH = 7
Ammonia = 0
Nitrite = 0
Nitrate = 10
I have not changed anything drastically in my tank lately, I have added some more plants, a hagen c02 unit and I removed some kribs which were causing problems. But my water readings today are:
pH = 6.4
Ammonia = 0
Nitrite = 0
Nitrate = 40
Why has my nitrate gone up? Is this a dangerous level? One thing i can think of is that the Nitrate Removal Sponge in my Juwel filter has expired.
Does anyone have any suggestions about my water and also about the algae I have spotted.
