Water Droplets

Hi guys, I have been looking on a photography forum about how to take pics of water droplets. I have given it a go, and here are my results:

I am quite pleased with them, and I am going to start experimenting with different colours etc. to see what I can achieve. Obviously these aren't brilliant, as they are my first attempt, but what do you think?

They were taken with my canon EOS 1000D with a tamron 90mm 1:1 macro lens.

cool shots , i like water droplet photography , when you start using colour you get some cool effects , i did some experementing using green dye which was quite cool. you can get some nice catchlights/reflections using flash

I just use a standard lens (for maximum DOF) and shoot at 5fps

Thanks for posting your pics guys. I really like the use of dye/food colouring to get cool colours. Thanks for posting your setup GGM, I might try to make a similar set up, as I always struggle with the edges of containers when I use the tap. The only lenses that I have are the kit lens (18-55mm) and the tamron 90mm 1:1 macro. Which do you think would be best? I love the one with the green dye Mark, it looks great. Do you have any pics of the setup?

i prefer to use the macro lens as its a lot sharper than a kit lens . my setup was basicly me seeing what i could throw together when i was bored . basicly camera/macro lens on tripod a dish of water and the cameras built in flash with a homemade diffuser made from an old camera film case and a sheet of tinfoil off to the side of the shot to reflect light. technical stuff eh lol

well it wont hurt to try with your kit lens, though I expect the results from the macro lens would be better. Only reason I used my standard lens over a macro (apart from the DOF thing) is because its optically superior to the Tamron 90mm (recently sold that anyway)

to get more dof with the macro lens , stop it down a bit and dont shoot at 1:1 magnification

Wow I can see these pics being used in professional settings! I love watching clear pictures of water in the middle of dropping.
