Water Dogs Tank Mates?

Hubby just purchased two water dogs. We got a separate tank for them, and will be picking them up in a few days. We were wondering what, if any, would make good tank mates? I would love to get a cichild or two, but not sure this is a good idea. Any advice would be great.

Also, when these water dogs turn to salamanders, would it be okay to put the turtle in the same tank as them?

If you put fish in the tank they will more than likely be eaten.

Once they turn into salamanders they will no longer be aquatic so they'll need a 'new' dry home. A turtle won't be able to go in with them as that will need water...
