did a small water change.Added dechlor etc and all of my tiger barbs sem to be acting funny. The filter had been blocked up and i finally got it working again. They cant swim away from it and seem to be getting draged to the surface, tail up.One of them was sitting on the gravel and then it got attacked by my evil ruby shark. Now its sitting clamped in a bowl. What shall i do?the temp is normal.

It sounds like something to do with the filter if it's been blocked up, did a load of mess go into the tank, can you post water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

i cant post sats.sorry.i dont have a test thing handy.no i unblocked the filter and a load of gunk was in it and i got it out and cleaned the whole thing.a litle bit went into the water but not much.

You didn't rinse your sponges to much did you, and you did do them in old tank water.

yeah.i didnt rinse the sponges at all.and i washed the filter in old tank water

It sounds like to me now the filter is fully working that the flow is moving them about to much, i would get your water tested as soon as possible as it hard to no what going on with out the test result, maybe do another water change.

thanks.theyre sheltering in the plants.its only affecting the smaller tiger barbs.everything else and the larger 4 are fine!

Could be the flow, can you turn it towards the glass to help break the current to see if that makes a difference.

What juwel is it, not the best filter in the world, and you're right they do clog up alot.

the rekord 60.the filter cant be moved and its directly in the middle of the tank
its my smallest
incase your wondering the fish in there arnt permenent and i know its a bit overstocked!

I have one it's my smallest tank, not the best filters would do a water change and think of adding another back up filter to help with the load, and getting the surface moving abit more.

yeh i think im gonna do another small water change.
i did a really big one today though after the gunk went into the water it was a 80% one.could this of harmed them?

Souldn't really do big water changes as it can shock the fish, and alter things to much that stress them out, yes if alot of gunk went into the tank it can alter water stats, if they are fine not gasping at the top of the tank i would leave it,sounds like you have stressed them with the big water change.

yeah i know i did stress them but i had to do it coz the water went almost black with the gunk from the filter! So i duno what to do now.Im scared incase i loose all my fish
