Very Fat African Dwarf Frog - Okay Or Bad

Okay so i have this African Dwarf Frog, ive had a couple, i think this is the larger of the kinds u can buy(LPS sells them as Medium and Large lol) but in all the ones ive had (only 2 lol) this one is so fat! i dont know if i should be worried or what, and i used to over feed my fish, now i only feed very small pinches twice a day for all 19 of my fish (tropical flake food) and i have frog pellets and shrimp pellets, but hardley ever use them, yet he gets so big. he was fine before i moved him about a month ago (havnt fed frog food and not much food hits the floor even tho some does) yet he is so fat. he is constantly hanging onto the feeding ring because it looks like its hard for him to swim to the top for air so he just chills at the top, he seems fine, i can even touch him lol

omg it looks like bloat(dropsey) how do i fix it!

i have melafix and maracyn available

does looks like dropsy to me too..if it is dropsy and at this stage its very hard to treat, most prob won't survive.any other signs? like not eating, not moving about much etc etc. maybe u can try feeding it some greens, just to make sure he isn't constipated..sorry i can't help much

I am not a frog expert, but he looks to me like he needs immediate veterinary treatment for an internal problem, rather than a topical antibacterial like Melafix or Maracyn.

i dont ever see him eat, and hes alot less active, looks like he has a hard time making it to the surface, so he holds on to the feeding ring.

and what kind of doctor can i even take him to? the vet i go to looked at my hamsters as a favor cuz they had ring worm but i doubt they do fish

exactly my point, ill keep melafixin but all ive read about dropsey in frogs typically ends up really bad

Melafix contains other ingredients as well; tea tree oil will not dissolve in the water properly. Whether that is relevant to a frog or not I don't know.

Few pets are ever 'worth' vets bills in financial terms, but then humans aren't 'worth' the cost of the doctor either, are they! It's not about the cost of the animal.

indeed melafix does have other ingredients. emulsifier, distilled water and anti foamer. but teatree will work if you just give it a good shake before you add it. but go ahead, use a "bought" product, its up to the individual.

forgive me here. Humans are not worth the cost of medical treatment? lol. i take it you considder yourself a, special case.
personally i would feel the cost of a critter is in direct relation to the amount i am willing to spend treating it. there seems no reason to get a £$50 bill for a frog, or any aquatic, that will die anyway.
